Stronger Together

Thank You for Making Us Stronger, Together - Spey Co. Fine Pearl Jewelry

This last week, Spey launched a conservation expedition in grand style – taking over an entire distillery for a spirited and elegant reception in support of an endangered species. But we couldn’t do it alone. We’d like to take a moment to thank some of the many invaluable individuals and organizations that helped make the evening a resounding success.

Her Excellency the Ambassador

A vision in rich textile and swaths of pearls, Her Excellency Vlora Çitaku, Ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo, proved a most generous and amiable host to the festivities. Spey is proud to champion formidable women and Ambassador Çitaku is certainly a force in her nation’s politics. We were honored she brought her delightful charm and wit to the event, having presided over the Ambassadors’ Tasting in the upper barrel aging room and then mingling with fellow guests in the main reception.

The Whiskey Library

Our gratitude extends (as does our tasting glass) to Brian Thompson and Tim Moll of The Whiskey Library who so lavishly curated a silent auction of rare and notable whiskies, helping us raise critical funds for river conservation. Bottles at auction included expressions of The Macallan, BenRiach, Glenfiddich, and Laphroig, among others. The peaty duo also poured just-released whiskies to guests of the Ambassadors’ Tasting while elucidating on all things distilled with the enraptured crowd. Slàinte!

The river advocates

There are several individuals who contributed to the cause as advocate-level sponsors and who will always maintain a dear place in our heart. Those individuals include: Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence and Charo Abrams; Ms. Aimee Aryal; Mr. Thomas Gallagher; and Ms. Michele Hartlove and Dr. Daniel Sherman. Without their selflessness and support, we could not have launched our expedition so confidently.

From all of us at Spey, from our ecologists and conservationists on the ground in Scotland, and from the scores of mussels who will benefit from this work, we say: thank you. Spey salutes as well the many guests in attendance that evening, who created such a wonderful and spirited atmosphere in celebration of a greener tomorrow. Missed the fun?
