It’s been a hot and wet summer in DC. Politics aside, we know why people call Washington ‘The Swamp.’ And while the humidity might leave us feeling a little less elegant after a jaunt between appointments, it can’t hold us back for long! We’ve spent the summer festooning brides in pearls for the wedding day and creating exceptional pearl jewelry for those June-birthstone lovers. We’re also looking toward the future (a very lovely place to look) and the upcoming autumn season is set to be a remarkable one at Spey. Here’s what we have in store:
The Spirit of Conservation
To ignore the planet is unconscionable, so we’re doing our part to make the world of tomorrow a more lustrous place by launching our own conservation expedition to the high north of Scotland, where a small but environmentally-critical pearl mussel calls home. In fact, it’s one of the last places on earth where this species is still found – the mussel is 95 percent extinct in mainland Europe. Scotland boasts some of the last remaining populations, so we’re joining forces with The American-Scottish Foundation to do something about it. On Thursday, Sept. 20, 2018, we’re hosting a reception to fund upcoming conservation work, field studies, and reintroduction programs that will help keep this species from extinction. Won’t you join us?
More pearls, more little luxuries
By now, you know: we love pearls. Our fine jewelry is both the hallmark of our collection and the craving of Society belles and women of influence in Washington, DC. We’ll be introducing new pieces of lustrous pearls wrapped in gold and accented with the brilliance of diamond, ruby, sapphire, and emerald. Our ever-popular collection of little luxuries is expanding, too, with…well, you’ll just have to wait to find out. We’ll be announcing new additions to our range beginning this autumn – just in time for gala season and the holidays!
There’s a lot to look forward to at Spey, so stay tuned, stay fabulous, and grab life by the pearls!
