This summer, Spey is proud to gift tickets to select performances of Chamber Dance Project to specially deserving members of our community who might not otherwise have access to the arts. Our Spey season of giving continues with 10 tickets donated to N Street Village, Street Sense, and Community Connections, after each purchase of either the enigmatic Tahitian pendant earrings or Tahitian spiral earrings from Spey. As part of our commitment to a more lustrous future for Washington, DC, this collaboration opens up the arts and kindles the imaginations of our Washingtonian neighbors and community.
Now in its third performance season in Washington, DC, Chamber Dance Project is presenting three world premieres by as many choreographers, and is welcoming the raucous street band Brass Connection for a bold, brassy, Louisiana-sultry performance onstage with the dancers. Accustomed to the lissome sounds of the world-class Chamber Dance Project string quartet, the performers (and audience) will be jolted into movement by the brass band most commonly seen stirring up crowds at Dupont Circle. The mixed-repertoire season includes:
- New hip-hop ballet by DC’s-own Victor Adebusola with Brass Connection
- New work by acclaimed young New York choreographer, Jennifer Archibald, with Brass Connection
- New work by Diane Coburn Bruning (Artistic Director of Chamber Dance Project) to a driving score by Bryce Dessner (of rock band The National) with the string quartet
Seven outstanding dancers, four renowned classical musicians, and the company of Brass Connection bring this season to life. Breaking creative and conceptual bounds with work of sweeping athleticism, arresting emotional shifts, edgy urban moves, and a power that lingers long after the curtain, the season of Chamber Dance Project is not to be missed. Want even more? The stylish Traudel Lange and Hani Miletski host the opening night after party in the Paris Ballroom of the Hotel Monaco, following a procession from the theatre led by Brass Connection. Join Spey for this incredible and energetic season, and wear Spey to help introduce these captivating arts to new generations and communities. It’s a good day to wear pearls!
